Eagle Road

Eagle Road is the house that gave the studio its vocabulary. A 1990s home just outside Austin, taken down to the studs, reframed with a significant addition, and rebuilt around the way the family actually lives rather than the way the original floor plan assumed they would.

The kitchen is anchored by a slab of Viola marble that we built the rest of the palette around: white oak cabinetry, unlacquered brass that is already aging nicely, and plaster walls that take the Hill Country light differently at every hour. Furnishings mix custom upholstery with vintage finds, which is the point. Nothing in this house looks like it arrived on the same truck.

AFI designed the renovation and stayed on it through construction, which is why the details line up: the cabinet reveals, the tile layouts, the way the addition reads as if it had always been there.
