Almirante

This Austin home came to us heavy on Tuscan finishes and light on, well, light. The remodel stripped the ornament and replaced it with materials that do the work quietly: white oak tongue and groove paneling, lime plaster walls, and skylights cut into the roof exactly where the rooms had been darkest.

Walls came down to open the kitchen to the living and dining rooms. The emerald sofa and the canopy bed are the kind of confident pieces a calmer envelope can finally carry.
