Everyone loves a good first Blog post...

Hey there, design darlings! I'm about to take you on a wild ride through the ups, downs, and unexpected turns of renovating a Tuscan-style gem right here in the heart of Austin, Texas. Hold on tight and get ready, because this is my first-ever blog post, and who am I?! Let's dive right in!

Now, picture this: a charming Tuscan-style home nestled amidst the vibrant landscapes of Austin. It had all the potential to be a dreamy oasis, but boy, did it need some love. Lucky for me, I had an ace up my sleeve – my mom, who happens to run a full-on upholstery, drapery, and home decor store in Houston. Cue the custom-made extravaganza and endless conversations with mom. Let's just say talking to my mom every day is like a daily dose of creativity—whether I asked for it or not!

Now, let's get to the nitty-gritty. We encountered a few hurdles along the way, and by hurdles, I mean those oh-so-fun moments that make you question your sanity. First up, the contractor from the depths of renovation purgatory. This person took the money and sprinted like Usain Bolt, leaving us with half-finished projects and a deep longing for justice. Lesson learned: never trust a contractor who can run faster than you!

But wait, there's more! Our entrance into this neighborhood was guarded like Fort Knox, with guards acting as the ultimate gatekeeper. It was as if they had secret clearance levels for tradesmen. Getting anyone through that guard gate was like trying to crack a safe. Let's just say we had more back-and-forth phone calls with the security guard than a teenager with their BFF. But hey, in the end, persistence pays off, and we conquered that gate like design superheroes. Which also involved lots of parking at HEB, and going to pick them, smh.

And then came the moments of improvisation—when things went awry, and we had to think on our feet. We became the masters of creativity, turning mishaps into happy accidents. Picture this: a mishap with a wall-turned-abstract-artwork, or a misplaced tile that magically became a focal point. It's amazing what a little imagination can do!

Now, despite all the twists and turns, the renovation journey turned out better than we ever expected. The custom-made wonders from my mom's store breathed life into every room, infusing them with personality and charm. Who needs a cookie-cutter approach when you can have your own personal touch in every stitch?

So, my design-loving comrades, if there's one thing I've learned from this exhilarating experience, it's that even amidst chaos, laughter and creativity are the secret ingredients to transforming a house into a home. And hey, who knows, maybe I'll become a seasoned blogger after this adventure!

Until next time, keep embracing the unexpected, finding beauty in the imperfections, and never forget to laugh along the way. This is Ashley Ferguson, signing off with a smile and a heart full of gratitude. Cheers to Tuscan transformations and the wild ride of design!

P.S. Mom, I love you, even if you're the reason I talk to myself sometimes (ha ha, just kidding, kind of).
